Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVT)
Technicians are required to have an active RVT license in Ohio and bring essential skills to West Park Animal Hospital. They assist doctors during examinations and surgeries, performing all duties that an RVT can do by law under the supervision of a veterinarian. They collect and read laboratory samples, assist with sedated medical grooms and anesthesia projects, place IV catheters, intubate patients, administer vaccines and medications prescribed by our veterinary doctors, and work in emergency services.
These veterinary professionals also play key roles in our continuing education and community outreach efforts. Other roles include Daytime and ER RVT Managers and Inventory Manager.
Veterinary Assistants
Veterinary Assistants at West Park Animal Hospital provide support to our veterinarians and RVTs. They assist with various tasks, such as providing care to our hospitalized patients, aiding in surgical procedures, and monitoring patients recovering from surgery. Additionally, they may provide basic medical care, such as restraining and helping obtain patient vitals, administering medication and vaccines, performing nail trims, expressing anal glands, and cleaning patients’ ears.
Veterinary Assistants also operate laboratory and diagnostic equipment like the X-ray machine and communicate with pet owners. Their work is essential to our veterinary hospital running efficiently, and they must have a compassionate and caring attitude toward animals. Other roles include Daytime and ER Veterinary Assistant Managers and Diagnostics Manager.
Animal Care Team
Our Animal Care Team helps throughout the animal health operations at our practice. They may clean and disinfect cages for pets undergoing surgical procedures or medical boarding. Often tasked with providing enrichment and feeding, and generally monitoring the companion animals in our care, our animal care team keeps operations running smoothly at West Park Animal Hospital. Other roles include the Animal Care Team Manager and Rescue Coordinator.
Customer Service Representatives (CSR)
Our veterinary Customer Service Representatives are responsible for managing the front desk of our hospital and incoming phone calls. They are the first point of contact for clients and are expected to greet them warmly, answer their questions, and provide them with information about the services available at the clinic. They also handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, processing payments, and maintaining medical records.
CSRs must have excellent communication and customer service skills, as well as a basic understanding of veterinary medicine and terminology. They may also assist our veterinarians with tasks such as weighing animals. Other roles include Daytime and ER Customer Service Representative Managers, and Medical Records Coordinator.
Management and Shift Leads
These roles range from Administrative Manager to Human Resources Manager, to Marketing and Media Manager. Each works alongside our direct line managers. Our Managers assist in all operations, will commonly help other teams when needed, and participate in community outreach and education. All leadership undergoes a professional development program to ensure all leadership skills are in alignment with the company mission and culture.
In the absence of management, we entrust our shift leads across all departments to provide our teams with the needed leadership and direction during each shift. Team members have career growth potential, participating in a journey of self-growth and leadership training tailored to their unique opportunities in our professional development program. Human Resources and Direct Line Managers support team members with monthly meetings to reflect on growth and development while aiding in developing action plans for continual growth.
